Your first day — set up in the right order
PrismaWMS is built in layers: each record uses the ones before it. Set things up in this order and every screen will offer you the right choices.
The order
Checklist
| # | Set up | Where | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Company name, time zone, currency; which fields are required (lot, expiry, supplier …) | Administration → System Settings | Decides what every form asks for |
| 2 | Each warehouse | Master Data → Warehouses | Every bin, document and stock line belongs to a warehouse |
| 3 | Zones and bins | Master Data → Locations | Stock is always in a bin; pickers follow bin codes |
| 4 | Units (EA, CTN, PLT …) | Master Data → UOM & Conversions | Items count in these units |
| 5 | Owners, suppliers, customers | Master Data → Business Partners | Who owns the stock, who sends it, who receives it |
| 6 | Items | Master Data → Items / SKU | What you store |
| 7 | Carriers, reason codes, numbering, putaway / picking rules | Master Data | Ready-made defaults exist — review them |
| 8 | Users and what they may do | Administration → Users, Roles & Permissions | Each person signs in as themselves |
| 9 | The stock you already have | Inventory → Stock Take or Adjustments | Starting quantities |
Many records at once
Warehouses, bins, partners and items can be imported from a spreadsheet (CSV), and bins can be generated aisle by aisle — you do not have to type hundreds of records. Each Master Data guide shows how.
Do not skip step 3
A warehouse without bins cannot receive anything: received goods are always booked into a bin.
