What is a WMS?
A WMS (Warehouse Management System) is the system that knows what is in your warehouse, where it is, how much there is, and who moved it — and guides your team through every receiving, storing, counting and shipping job.
A warehouse without a WMS
Imagine a busy warehouse run on paper and memory:
- A lorry arrives. Nobody is sure what it should bring, so the team counts everything twice.
- Pallets go "somewhere free". Next week nobody can find them.
- A customer order comes in. Pickers walk the whole warehouse looking for the item.
- At month end the stock on paper and the stock on the shelves do not match.
The same warehouse with PrismaWMS
- Receiving — PrismaWMS already knows what the supplier should deliver, so the team only counts and confirms. Short or damaged goods are recorded on the spot.
- Storing — every pallet, carton or unit is put in a bin (a numbered shelf position), so it can always be found again.
- Live stock — every move updates the stock immediately. Anyone can see how much is available.
- Picking — the system tells pickers exactly which bin to go to and how many to take.
- Shipping — packed cartons, delivery notes and labels are produced, and the customer's system can be told.
- Control — counts, approvals and a complete history (the audit trail) show who did what and when.
