Outbound

Outbound is everything that happens to send goods out: a customer order arrives, PrismaWMS reserves the stock, workers pick it, pack it into cartons, put the cartons on the staging lane, load the truck and ship. Stock only leaves the warehouse at the very end — when the shipment is confirmed.

The outbound journey

StepDocumentWhat changes in stock
Order PoolSO-…nothing — the customer's demand

Your warehouse decides which steps to use

Your administrator sets the outbound steps in Administration → Workflow Designer → Process (and can override them per owner):

  • Waves — on by default. When off, picks are released order by order.
  • Packing — required by default. When off, picked units can ship without cartons.
  • Loading — optional by default: use it when you want carton-by-carton load control.
  • Ship confirm from — Packed (default) or Picked.
