VAS & Production
Besides receiving, storing and shipping, a warehouse often does work on the goods: it builds kits and bundles, produces finished goods from materials, handles returns, and performs services for clients such as labeling or gift-wrap. This chapter also covers the yard and dock — the gate, the trucks and the dock doors.

Kit or production order?
Both turn components into a new item using a BOM. Use kitting for simple assembly at a bench (bundles, gift sets, displays). Use a production order when you work with a production line, issue materials to the line, and want to compare actual material use with the BOM.
